Not embellishing at all, in 3rd grade I asked the teacher what were the books that they burned, and I still remember the stumbling, awkward, and scared response from my teacher.

She struggled to come up with a word to describe them.

Thinking back, I can tell by her irregular response, that she new exactly what they burned.

Me too! LOL! In elementary school I asked a teacher too and they wouldn't tell me what books they burned. I bet they don't want to tell kids the truth because most would probably side with the Nazis. Why bother keeping books around the classroom describing Nazis burning books if you can't answer questions about it? They're weird.

I asked what happened to the masturbation machines they taught us about a couple of years earlier and I got told to be quiet because I was one of those kids they thought would end up in prison

Politicized history has no place in a 3rd grade classroom.

It's quite possible that she didn't know for sure, but she probably did.
