Nice. Heavy ass swords teach you how to use your waist. That's where all the power comes from, not your shoulders.
It's actually feels surprisingly light! due to how well balanced it is
I haven't joined a Hema gym, yet.
But I've been practicing my Meyers square and different stances with a wooden long sword.
I've been working out for 12 years, and training martial arts for 7 years off and on, so I know how my body mechanics work. I still need a coach to tell me what I'm doing wrong, but I think I have the basic movements down.
Some days I'll do a steel mace workout and long sword drills with footwork. It's a fun mix up for sure.
Plus one on the steel mace. Outstanding offset weight workout which engenders balance and consciousness of body position.
It's my new favorite conditioning tool.
You can put together some really fun and interesting flows!
Sprawl to a 45° bar push up, jump up, 360 swing, lunge to spear thrust, squat then slide grip to the other side and repeat
