Yup. The first Matrix is the only Matrix movie and the Animatrix is what sets the entire story line into a grand human tragedy. In a lot of ways, if you look at places like Reddit and how everyone is cocooned into an obvious lie, it isn't much different from being plugged into the power generators or the first Animatrix episode with humans swimming in their own hubris. Probably one of the greatest works of art ever created in my opinion.
