It is. Truly a shame. This guy's music was pretty good. He also heavily promoted fitness and self-defense using his platform with MTV and such. He seemed mostly apolitical, perhaps "left-leaning" (back when "left-leaning" simply meant "somewhat sane liberal") a bit.
But they all sell out eventually.

Those Straight Edge types always turn out to be liberals in their old age. I guess if you can't trust your own judgement enough to party, you probably don't have good judgement.
