Based on my experience of Germany, albeit limited, I would say pickup trucks are illegal. I've never seen one there. My sister had what is an American mid-size SUV. Her family was US Air Force doing the typical thing and brought it over from America. It was the biggest (personal) vehicle in the entire country, I think.
