TLDW;

  • Watch the first 5 minutes

  • Labeling laws designed to hide the amount of sugar in food.

  • Sugar is labeled BUT if two sugar molecules are bound they can be labeled as complex carbohydrates

  • This means that a bagel has 40grams of sugar even though the label says there is zero sugar in it.

The rest of the video is good too. Most of you know this, but, cholesterol level doesn't matter because it is just trying to patch up inflamed portions of blood vessels. What matters is how much of "sticky" (oxidized) cholesterol is in your blood (and also what is also causing the blood vessel inflamation, which is the real cause of atherosclerosis). Also, parkinsons desease seems to have a start in the gut (amongst many other causal effects, but this connection is real none the less).

The video is pretty dense with really great info.

All carbohydrates are sugar. The only difference between any carbohydrate and another is how many sugar molecules are chained together. When you digest them the chains are broken and they're plain old sugar again in your blood.
