so how do we separate leadership and hierarchy from "authority"? if i run a household, is corporal punishment exercising authority? what about a business? if i withdraw my pay to someone because they "disobey" then is that different? what about theft? if someone takes my product, and doesn't pay their agreed upon price, where do i go for recourse? if nowhere, then do i have the right to violently retrieve my goods?

i mean there has to be a distinction between authority and "mass authority" or something because the analogies in this video are somewhat counterintuitive

So you are completely under the impression that you can't live life without government to control you. Got it.

"I need the gubbamint to suvirve!!!"

i was referring to the term "authority" used in the video. having a court system seems to be useful especially if you're an underdog in society aka going against the mob. having laws seems to be useful. a nation of laws makes sense to me.

i guess i'm just not seeing how the argument against authority applies to real life. i have authority in my household. in my business. etc. idk, seems a bit oversimplified.

The video is about government authority and the belief that you need it. Or that a small group of people have the right (rights you and i don't have?) to take money from us and tell us how to live our lives. Statism.

having a court system

does not require government

i have authority in my household. in my business

your house, your business Don't need a government for that either

Here's another one for you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngpsJKQR_ZE

probably too oversimplified for someone like you though...
