They are literally animals. Interbred with some extinct primate DNA that no other race has. That's why they're so significantly different than most.
You know, I am warming up to this theory. All the other species of human are obviously speciated and different in their own way but they can get along.

What is there to warm to? The genetics are very clear on this. They largely interbred with a more primitive hominid outside the fossil record. Something more closely related to ape than human.
The secret that would end any geneticist's career if spoken of. They will speak of White and Neanderthal, Asian and Denisovan, but no one is allowed to speak of this.
So even their ancestors were dumb enough to interbred with apes.
