Maybe the Zelinski regime is not worth fighting and dying for.

If they had a half decent government I would be agreeing with your stance. Being a country controlled by <ahem> Zelinski is the only reason to 2nd guess what you are really fighting for.
I don't deny that either. My position on this point is that a country is only as corrupt as it's men. I understand that when every man in a country is weak and susceptible to treason and corruption there is an overwhelming sense of desperation and even self hatred.
But, there is no way to rebuild a country and clean it up until its men decide to stand up and fight.
However, you make a really good point that it is easy to use a fighters virtue against him by tricking him into a war against his own brothers, I did not fully think that through.
