It's not just the drugs. Anyone at that level even when not actively high has some form of distinct mental issue as an underlying cause of the drug use. Most people are mentally ill, just on different levels of the same condition. Some people actually hit rock bottom while most manage to stay mostly above the water line so to speak.
It is infuriating to know how little effort is takes early on to prevent the downward spiral that inevitably leads to the traits we see in the video. The problems we ignore only get worse. Jordon Peterson may have his issues, but I would suggest watching the material he has on dragons and slaying dragons as a metaphor for confronting issues rather than ignoring them. I think society as a whole, and its stunning ability to ignore abhorent quality of life issues, is a mirror of the ignorance with which many of our personal and familial lives suffer when it comes to conflict resolution. It is a skill we need to work on if we want to make a better world.
