because the handlers just told them to put the masks on as the cameras were going to be turned on
That mask is actually a good excuse to legitimately disrupt mass video surveillance/facial recognition algos https://www.wealthmanagement.com/sites/wealthmanagement.com/files/coronavirus-mask-sunglasses.jpg
I thought about that and wondered why they'd mandate something that makes it harder for them to track us. I know if everyone has a cellphone they can use that to track us instead of a face, and also it does seem like the masks were temporary in order to help convince people to get the vaccine, you can take it off if vaccinated etc.
Yeah, at one point I wondered if that wasn't also an opportunity to test the reliability of tracking algos with "added difficulty"
Now there's a lot "they" don't control, unintended consequences are still a thing
The face is only part of it. Cell phone, credit card use, toll booths, etc. Then daily patterns of these behaviors. So when they see your face the big data already has it narrowed down quite a bit.
The area around the eyes is sufficient, and actually the most important part of making facial recognition work.
