Wonder if the hive had a laying worker. Unless there was already another queen already in the hive that’s about the only reason they would attack a new queen.
Yeah he said he looked for one. Maybe he didn't find it. Also he said sometimes bees just don't like the new queen.

They will sometime even attack a new queen when they are queenless with a laying worker. It's all about pheromones with bees. Never forget that will living creatures you can usually predict what they will do but they will do things their way.
I evidently didn’t make myself clear. I agree a laying worker is probably the cause of the attack on the queen.

A lasting worker is a female bee that decides since there is no queen she will become an egg layer.
