A) I don’t know one single Christian who believes Gos lives in the clouds and wears a white robe and and has a white beard. Not one.
B) how foolish beyond comprehension is it to think you can successfully play God. That you have the mental capacity to successfully do the job of an infinite being — God.
The hubris and dangerous evil is that of the end times.
Coming from the sciences, the very idea that we understand enough of the biological world to start real world irreparable changes to the code of organisms is hilariously terrible and reeks of unfathomable levels of hubris that will invariably backfire before failing to deliver the goal.
The example I keep coming back to is the wife spread evolution of plastic digestion in the last thirty years. Failed spectacularly in the lab, but we're seeing it happen real time because of the selective pressure and prevalence of plastics.

They've been trying to develop organisms that can digest plastic, to help clean up all the landfills and other tiny bits of plastic everywhere in the environment. Apparently those haven't been very successful. But, apparently such organisms have developed via natural selection in the environment, without our help, simply because there is so much plastic in everything now, and any organism that "figures" out how to digest it will have an evolutionary benefit. Evolution > human engineering.
If an embryo is your property then you could modify it at your whim. If it ceases to be human because of the modification you have created the first generation of the slave race. This is so uplifting. It is under way. Tell me that there are not private laboratories forging ahead with this kind of experimentation already. Once you have some captive bred humans without birth certificates you are in the clear...

Not so long ago i believed that there existed agreed upon ethics, as a bulwark against what you describe.
What we've witnessed over the last few years, prove that what may have been, certainly is no more..
