Having a stick shift has become anti theft as much of the younger crowd can’t drive it…

That's funny

where i am once upon a time if you wanted to drive a manual car you had to do your driving test in a manual or you were not licensed for manual. no more.

but even worse -

scooter riders are fully licensed motorcycle riders. the mutants that can barely ride a scooter will kill themselves on a motorcycle.

Yikes!

I learned to drive stick in the largest uhaul truck available at the time. We were moving half way across the country and had two trucks. Father was driving the other.

He takes me out to the truck, tells me how to operate it, and ten minutes later we're on the road. Was shitty starts but I feared we would stop on a incline. Got there okay.

i first learned in a 60s land rover when i was 14, then did my license in one of them 80 series land cruisers, which is a big motherfucker, so i was already used to driving.

id been around motorcycles my whole life anyway and despite bagging out scooter riders i rode them myself at work without a license for over a decade doing security work at events and only got my own bike license after i came back from the United Kaliphate about 10 years ago.

tell you what tho someone must have been looking out for me even when the old man was alive. I can remember 3 different occasions that fucking cruiser slowly sliding sideways towards trees and poles (without me driving like a dick!!!) but managing to get grip in the right direction without actually hitting anything... them and 4runners had a habit of breaking traction if you farted in the wrong direction

California has two classes of motorcycle license: M1 and M2. M2 is only for mopeds/scooters, and M1 is for motorcycles. You can still "trick" the system and get an M1 by taking your test on a scooter with a 250cc motor.

LOL, I did my M1 back in '06 on my Dad's Honda Shadow that I almost never drove. Didn't practice enough. Wasn't used to breaks so I pressed too hard on the very first corner and had to put my foot down. It was a stupid mistake but they wouldn't give me a mulligan. Weeks later I came back with the Piaggio 150 my brother and I shared. It had a CVT and soft brakes. Passed with zero errors or mistakes.

all they need in some states is a car permit if even that. consistently see them doing the dumbest shit until they end up dead either on the scooter or when they finally upgrade to that 1000cc ninja theyve been lusting for

thankfully in melbourne the kinds of people who ride scooters tend not to ever upgrade to anything with gears and a clutch, and people that ride motorcycles would generally rather shit in their own hands and clap than ride a scooter.

Now working SBK and MotoGP at Phillip Island when you finally have your own bike and youre no longer on the work scooters makes you one of the luckiest motherfuckers on the planet and were some of the best weekends of my life

I want a ninja. I don't know how to ride a bike.
