Henry Ford made his children completely disassemble and reassemble a car in order to have one. Even the girls. They knew every part, how it worked, and how to fix it. They would not have been fooled by this. I weep for the future, children are more amd more concerned with useless time wasters and less on how to survive. Having a stick shift has become anti theft as much of the younger crowd can’t drive it…

That's funny
where i am once upon a time if you wanted to drive a manual car you had to do your driving test in a manual or you were not licensed for manual. no more.
but even worse -
scooter riders are fully licensed motorcycle riders. the mutants that can barely ride a scooter will kill themselves on a motorcycle.
Yikes!
I learned to drive stick in the largest uhaul truck available at the time. We were moving half way across the country and had two trucks. Father was driving the other.
He takes me out to the truck, tells me how to operate it, and ten minutes later we're on the road. Was shitty starts but I feared we would stop on a incline. Got there okay.
California has two classes of motorcycle license: M1 and M2. M2 is only for mopeds/scooters, and M1 is for motorcycles. You can still "trick" the system and get an M1 by taking your test on a scooter with a 250cc motor.
all they need in some states is a car permit if even that. consistently see them doing the dumbest shit until they end up dead either on the scooter or when they finally upgrade to that 1000cc ninja theyve been lusting for
My mothers first car was a VW beetle that my Grandfaddy made her disassemble and rebuild before he let her leave the driveway with it . Thank God she didn't do the same to me with my Honda Accord .
Well, things have become a bit more complex… still, understanding the basics and major systems is for the best.
My dad taught me a lot , starting on riding lawn mowers and we built a two motor go kart . When i was 17 we built a 1950 pan shovel harley kit bike ; it leaked oil as if it was original .
