Seems like misdirection. By making bitcoin a currency, traffickers can get paid by distributors in the US without having to smuggle currency back to South America. Bitcoin enables drug smuggling much more than seizures do to stop it. Cartel probably coordinated the seizure to make El Salvador look good to the US citizens when in fact they are the money launderers.
