I just retired from 40 years of flying. Jets, extremely reliable. I never lost an engine in flight. Shut a few down due to other malfunctions. But I never suffered a loss of an engine inflight. The most dangerous part of my job was the drive to and from the airport

Commercially? Did you reach mandatory retirement age?

Aged out. I’d still be flying if they would have let me. It was great, I enjoyed every moment, from the terrifying to the hilarious. No regrets.

Is it a flat plane up there as far as the eye can see

Lol, it’s a curve. I’ve more than once have taken off, pointed my airplane in one direction and flew all the way around the world and ended up where I started. I did it both directions and went north and south too.

Why is every other planet and celestial object spherical except the Earth?

They're all fake decals on the clear covering in the sky. /s

Why do lightbulbs emmanate light but the ground does not? Your question is nonsensical, but will assume you still believe in Santa Clause and that planets are real objects 'in space'. 'Planets' are not spherical, look again with your own eyes or at least not at NASA CG fantasy photos. Try searching for 'Nikon P900 mars' etc, ie- through a real lens you can buy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-Ly6BZtEE0
