"Bro you can make so much money just do this in your basement, garage - grow edible mushrooms, make snail farm, make mink farm, chinchilla farm, ostrich farm... You can make 10 million thousands in a month bro"
Don't be fooled by these type of scams. Yea that guy might be making mad money but not how you think. He sells you supplies to start your own farm, starter plants or animals, equipment you will need, books explaining what to do. Just give him 5.000 and your farm will make profit in a year. Or buy more starting supplies for 10.000 and you will be making so much money in just 6 mounts.
Except that profit never comes. On most years you will be in a negative. You might even earn 10 sometimes but you will be giving 20 for maintenance. And by the time you found out you are only loosing money, you cant stop because you put so much money into it already.
This is a pyramid scheme and only way you will ever make money is if you convince some other poor soul how great this job is and convince him to buy a starter pack from you. Hope you are charismatic and fair looking enough to make a catchy youtube video advertising it.
Come on guy, you think that don't exist people who profit from these things ? I don't think it has to do with pyramids and selling courses, books, etc.
Anyway, what do you think could be done in your basement instead of this then ?
I know many people who fell for these ez money schemes. Some stayed in it for years lying to themselves. They all gave up in the end and accepted a huge financial loss.
You can have a rabbit, quail or a chicken farm in a small space. You will be making your own food and wont be reliant on a system as much. Where things are going this could be life saving endeavor and great investment. You can also have profit from these farms selling surplus eggs, meat... but it certainly wont be 6.000.000 a day.
I think they just have a business selling micro greens locally. Couldn’t anyone do that?
This is true, but not for the reasons that you point out.
The reason that most end up selling equipment to suckers is because most people don't know how to sell. That's it. If you know how to sell, you can make this work. It's not easy. The easy part is growing the stuff, that takes no effort. The hard part is going out there and knocking on restaurant and other doors and convincing people to buy.
That takes REAL work and you have to pound the pavement every day.
I knew one lady that would go to costco, buy meat, buns and supplies and make delicious sandwiches. Then, she would get in her van and build a route downtown through the office buildings. Once she built the route, not only did she make money running the route she the sold off the route and started from scratch building a new route in a different part of town.
If you know how to hustle you can make this work. Most people don't know how to sell.
. In order to hook you with their scheme they will tell you selling is guaranteed, they already have the buyers, no hustle required. Even if there is a buyer when the times comes for you to sell magically price will be magnitudes lower from what they promised you. Yes you will be getting some money but when you sit down and put expenses vs profits on paper you will be in the negative. You will be at 0 at best. And that is not counting original 5-10k you had to invest in the beginning. You'll never be at 0 with that one.
Have you had any personal experience with this type of thing? Any companies you are referring to with particularity?
Just to add if you are not convinced and thinking of doing something like this don't give the original salesman any money. Tell him if this is so great give me supplies and when/if i start to make profit in a year i will give you the money for those starting supplies. Make a contract stating this if he agrees.
But don't worry he will never agree because he knows you will never make any profit.
Hydroponics is not a pyramid scheme...
