It is the same consideration with the aboriginal peoples of the United States, and the imported nigger chattel. We attempted to be better than our ancestors, and we allowed them to live. Now, American Indians have become recontextualized as native Americans... They are not American and they are no more native than ourselves. They are Sioux. They are Tohono Oʼodham, they are Apache, Navajo, Ojibwe... But they are not American. Had we dealt with them in the same manner as literally every other culture in recorded history, we would not be dealing with their corrosive influence today.
