Any training helps when it comes to fights, each of which could be life and death. But MMA is a sport, there's no rules in a street fight you're better off learning any sort of urban warfare for self defense.
I'm well past that point. I don't like fighting, so I train diligently, that way I don't have to fight, I just become a machine. A wood chipper won't go and attack you, but I bet you won't put your hand in it while it's operating. It's like if you slip and fall down the stairs, who do you blame in that instance? Or if you slip on a banana peel and hit your head, is the banana peel some grand martial arts master with supreme wisdom? No it's just a banana peel and your own clumsiness hurt you. That is the ideal that I seek to approach.
