The first instance in history of a gun spontaneously firing by itself, AND loaded with live ammunition (on a movie set no less), while being held by a famous celebrity who is pointing it at someone. What are the odds?
What's amusing is that Baldwin himself made a similar point by saying that out of the millions of times guns have been fired on set, this kind of thing hasn't happened in decades. He's not making the point he thinks he's making. My first thought was "Yeah, it happened because your conduct on set was egregiously reckless."
This rarely happens on big or small movie sets either. I think the last occurrence was on The Crow, and that gun was firing blanks. It turned out there was a squib in the barrel from a previous shot, and the blank pushed it out at full velocity. That's why, in this video, he shows himself checking the barrel too. That's standard practice on movie sets because of what happened on The Crow.
