Yes. I dont know why the defense asked for one. A retrial would likely see the prosecutors pursue a different strategy and they could fuck with the jury selection and judge to attempt to get a more favorable situation.
The fact that his lawyers said they're OK with a mistrial without prejudice makes me think this is all just part of the circus that is our federal government. Just a distraction and an attempt to cause more chaos. They're all in on it.
Also extend the distraction from the other two trials of patriots.
They asked for a mistrial with prejudice. That means the case is basically thrown out and they can't retry it.
