From what I'm seeing in the closing arguments, Arbery deserved what he got; he was clearly stealing shit and had been for a while. He'd have got shot eventually, doing what he was doing.
The defendants are probably screwed though, and that's frustrating. Everything hinges on whether their citizens arrest can be considered a citizens arrest.
If not, they're guilty of wrongful detention, which is a felony. If he's been wrongfully detained, that can be considered provocation, so self-defense doesn't apply, and, they killed a man while committing the felony of wrongful detention.
