A Motion to call for Directed Verdict needs to be called by the Defense. Judges CAN do it themselves but it's rare.

Let us imagine for just a second, a hypothetical situation: Mr. Kyle Rittenhouse, instead of being born so "m̶a̶l̶e̶,̶ ̶p̶a̶l̶e̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶s̶t̶a̶l̶e̶", he had the great privilege to have been born born, oh, let's say, 🅑🅛🅐🅒🅚, as Kyle Malcom X Jones Jr. III... Not changing anything else about the events that happened that night, save for this one ᵗᵉᵉⁿˢʸ ʷᵉᵉⁿˢʸ little thing: that Kyle was simply born 🅑🅛🅐🅒🅚. Do any of you think that this event would have ever become national news if Kyle had been 🅑🅛🅐🅒🅚? Do any of you think that this event would have ever even made the nightly news in Kenosha, Wisconsin if Kyle had been 🅑🅛🅐🅒🅚? Or do you think what I think, that this event still would have made national headlines, except this time the national MSM would be declaring Kyle Malcom X Jones Jr. III the poor victim of the lynching attempts of a group of white supremacists, and criminal conviction would've befallen all evil whites involved in the attempted murder of Kyle Malcom X Jones Jr. III, who is an outstanding citizen, stepping into harms way to protect the poor peaceful protesters from a group of white supremacists that showed up to terrorize the BLM protesters that night? We all know this is how it would've played out if things had been, ahem, 🅓🅘🅕🅕🅔🅡🅔🅝🅣.
