If nicotine is so addictive, how come there aren't millions of people addicted to nicotine patches and gum? I ask that question as a person who smoked for 20 years and for whom quitting was one of the most difficult things he ever did. I'm just not sure it's the nicotine specifically.

Regarding intended OT: nicotine is addictive, but that's far from the only addictive substance they mix into tobacco, to make the customer come back.

Back when making tobacco was the wild west, they added licorice powder, sugar, cocoa and countless other addictive substances. Lighting up a zig, caused about 4000 chemical reactions to happen right there.

This have since been outlawed and the additives list is now heavily regulated, so they have to mimic the reactions on the absolute base molecular level, so lighting up now is estimated to cause 7000 chemical reactions..

You should feel safer knowing that any government bodys interference with-, regulation and/or approval of any produce is unconditionally better than any alternative..
