A reptile, like a dinosaur, or even an amphibian, has its "brain" spread out along its spine as well as its skull.

Its main problems are not just brain volume, but lack of brain folding genes found in marsupials, and mammals

You too have additional brain!:

humans have additional brain spread out along intestinal tract, and is a massive amount of gut neurons, but unconnected to main brain consciousness.

This other brain you have is so large, it has as many neurons as a cat has in in a cat brain.

Reptiles can hardly be trained, that does not mean they are stupid, but they can be raised to not learn to eat cats , dogs, or humans.... mostly.
