I had a long term girlfriend whose mother died from alcoholism, and in watching her wither away, there are a lot of similarities both in their physical appearance as well as mannerisms that may not be as easy to recognize if you didn’t spend a lot of time around a serious alcoholic.
The double bulges under the eyes, how leathery and loose his skin is (pay specific attention to his jawline and forearms, places that aren’t typically known for becoming as saggy as the rest of us with age) the unusual way he moves around and shifts body positions constantly is done specifically to hide tremors.
