He's sort of a Steve Jobs, but I have trouble respecting him with bullshit like Hyperloop, which can't work due to physics. He's strung people along for years with that one.
I made a better hyperloop than him, in prototype stages atm.

No one is weightless in orbit. You're about 80% weight at that altitude.
What you are is permanently falling and weight that you feel right now is the resistance to your fall. When your arm is holding a hammer You are that resistance to the fall.
And keeping a huge tube with a low vacuum is extremely resource-intensive. It's a pipe dream.
I am ambivalent about this sort of thing. I take a hard stance on scamming old people and children. However, all of the adults believing his hyperloop crap are willing participants in the illusion. If he can fleece them then they deserve to be fleeced.
Hell, I would encourage all scam artists to identify these people and just keep on going after them until there is nothing left.
Good point; apparently Musk fanboys are legend. But milking them of money isn't as classy as engineering. I don't think he's trying to take advantage of them, just not appreciating the practical realities of some things (with idiots throwing money at him, which he happily uses).
