I have listened to this now a couple of times because I couldn't understand why I like this and don't really like the Satch version. I think it must be because Satchs playing is so utterly perfect that my ear completely tunes out when he is playing it recorded or live. This kids playing isn't perfect and it is allowing my brain to kinda get attached to the individual phrases. I enjoy this tune now way more than before. Rick Beato has a video of a Zep song and his question for the video was, what would Zeppelin sound like if it was time aligned like all modern recordings today. In the video he shows you how they drift behind the beat a bit here and there and then he time aligns it and VOILA, all emotion dissappears from the tune. Satriani just might be too technically good actually be enjoyed properly.
