Mel Gibsons undoing has always been that he takes a firm stance on causes like this one, something that matters to him personally, ignoring whether it's a popular stance or not and making sure it gets exposure. I admire his seemingly total disregard of possible negative consequences of taking a stand. I'm pretty sure i don't agree with many of his philosophies and stances on whatever, but he sure sets a example to follow on being true to yourself and your beliefs!
