Mel Gibsons undoing has always been that he takes a firm stance on causes like this one, something that matters to him personally, ignoring whether it's a popular stance or not and making sure it gets exposure.

I admire his seemingly total disregard of possible negative consequences of taking a stand.

I'm pretty sure i don't agree with many of his philosophies and stances on whatever, but he sure sets a example to follow on being true to yourself and your beliefs!

Gibson has always been strongly in favor of traditional Catholicism. He prefers the Latin Mass. I would imagine his views are traditional church views, which have come under fire from liberals both inside and outside the priesthood. There are actually Catholic priests today who don't believe in God. It goes without saying that they are in favor of homosexuality and homo priests. Gibson is against all that. He wants a return to traditional Catholic observances and values.

Jesus wasn't simply a Jew that had arguments w other Jews. The concept of modern Judaism makes no sense because of Jesus- Why don't Jews still perform animal sacrifices as atonement for sin? If sin atonement always requires blood, as the bible says, Christians have an answer. Jews do not.
