It will never end, people who have lived longer think they have perspective you're missing. In a way they're right, and they also ignore the perspective you do have. When it comes down to it, we all want people in our corner, when the bell rings though, it's you that has to go through the motions. They're not lifting a finger for you there and if they only understood that, then they'd realize that you are listening to them. Politics is bullshit, people would fight a lot less if there were less of 'it' and more doing. Unfortunately politics and the bullshit it brings is a fact of life, enjoy that you have a place to vent and be numb.
