It's overwhelming to watch. Humbling to see how complex your body is and how it's out of your control. A good motivator to care for it with a good diet, exercise, etc.
Our body is organic nanotechnology, a life form which has been evolving for the past four billion years. It uses resources from its environment to make copies of itself on the cellular level as well as the organism as a whole. We have barely even begun to understand its mindboggling complexity. Mess around with it at your peril.

It didn't jump from nothing to DNA. The evolution was a gradual process. Self-replicating proteins -> RNA-based life -> DNA-based life. I'm sure you can find an explanation online.
