The hubris of the ATF agent comes from the fact he could burn the entire housing compound to the ground and there's jack fuck that could be done about it. Notice how the woman at the end said he tried to force his way in, and hse called the cops. Guess where that "illegal" shotgun was gonna go? It wasn't gonna get declared or sent to an evidence locker, the ATF agent just wanted to be able to steal it for himself, hence why he wasn't dressed. Just an armed thug drunk on poer
