Because human survival strategy is as an obligate social species. There are NO humans that survive out in the wild on their own as individuals. Human males can survive for a bit on their own if they grew up in hunter gatherer societies but not our females.
As a result of our survival being 100% dependent on other humans, all human individuals are highly compliant, you just tell a human what to do and they will do it as a matter of our psychology. We are so socially obligate that we don't torture our murderers physically in jail, we torture them by putting them in isolation tanks. We are socially obligate for our survival to such a degree that our females have an entire social warfare skillset built into their dna that are completely different from the hieararchy warfare systems that our males have built into our dna.
You and I both see our selves as outliers, but that really isn't true. The circuitry that control our social compliance is still there, although, perhaps it might be engaged slightly differently than most people. For me, I'm not an outlier, I just float between social groups so it seems like I am an outlier.

Hello, fellow social floater.
