I think one possibility is that both homosexuals and pedophiles are created by the same thing, that being exposure to sexuality during childhood, such as being directly molested or forming a porn addiction. in that case having 50%+ overlap isn't surprising.

I've looked at this figure of 40% but it's because some pedophiles said they were bi-sexual so were not counted as being fags.
