Excellent observations. I find it similar to the blue pill/red pill dichotomy in society. Most people have buy into the societal norms and narratives (blue pill) because it's easy and comforting. They are unable to even acknowledge that the foundations of their beliefs are a mirage, or that a "red pill" even exists.
And when confronted with facts that would shake those beliefs, they instinctively defend with faith-based dogma. If you push the issue, they will become agitated and even violent. Anyone who has tried to convince a family member of a "red pill" issue can relate. Telling someone their child might have autism because of vaccines is about as controversial as walking into a catholic church during mass and declaring that Jesus was a fraud.
(I do not recommend doing either of those things)
