If I understood this guy correctly, he's trying to redefine 'merit in society' to mean those that are rich and/or have university degrees, rather than someone has provided something of desired value to society. After redefining the meaning, he then proceeds to attack it. Seems like a classic Strawman Argument with the obvious intent to attack meritocracy and of course replace with socialism.
