There are maybe 3 people on this site who can remember the gasoline shortages in the 70s. All 3 of us can attest to this stupid logic.
Cars lined up for miles, with gas stations empty. I can't pump oil, refine it and store it to be used in a reasonable time.
I can however install solar on my property, store energy for later use and drive for free. Is the range limited? Yep but any place with storage and solar could recharge me whereas a gas vehicle requires way more to bring that fuel to market.
