If I were in charge of an aggressive war, it would be swift and systematic reduction of their entire population to 0 while leaving the Earth "un-salted". It will be over very quickly, so that when other countries see this and want to punish us, we'd be poised and ready to do the same to them. When that is accomplished, plant my flag and move in a chunk of my own population. None of this "winning of hearts and minds" rubbish.
And nothing of value would have been lost.
