There's a video on YouTube about "the Wendy Theory" which makes the case that it's actually Wendy who is insane and doing all the killing. After watching that video I honestly believe that was Kubricks true intention. It's a really good video if you can bare the robot voice.

I don't know who, but someone wrote a book postulating that Harry Potter was insane. The entire story line was a figment of the imagination of some unwanted orphan that was forced to live under the staircase in his upper-class aunt's house after his parents were killed in a car accident.
