Definitely not, there are several moments where the weapon is discharged while pointed into the crowd or at the guy holding the weapon. If they were using deadly ammunition, it'd be a fuckin' massacre.
It'd be a real shame if someone "accidentally" swapped out all of their blank shells for buckshot or slugs.
