I passed his kinda remote home many times here in town, and my daughter-in-law used to do their outfits (laundry) in same area, she remembers a guy with a beard waiting in the car while a girl brought the clothes in, dunno which guy it was.

Funny how Dusty wanted to stay in his home here in Seabrook south of Houston, a very nondescript town in a nondescript little redneck type area, lots of poor folks around living in trailers and a few crackheads.

Grew up watching the whorehouse thing on the news with Marvin Zindler the guy that busted them and been through LaGrange many times. Never understood the popularity of that song lol.

Grew up near the Balinese.

Friends used to go see them play at high school functions, seemed like a nice guy. Kind of sad to me for some reason. Guess I'm getting old.

I remember when I was 13ish my mother asked how many millionaires I thought lived in (my small) town. I said the people in that huge house at the end of x street probably. She just smiled. Never answered but I got the point.

That's another thing we've largely lost. That kind of modesty and understanding that not only is money not everything, but it's almost entirely meaningless next to family and community.

Yeah, and I think this guy really loved the area, it was home.

And your health, you can have it all and be dying of cancer and can't do a darn thing about it.

I've always been a big fan of their earlier stuff, but held off seeing them in the later years because they usually played mostly new stuff in their shows. I decided the last tour being the 50th they would do all their great tunes, which they did. Too bad they played every song in double time, it was one of the very few concerts I ever walked out of before it was done.

Ew, double time? That's nuts.

~cut time, pay cut~

Double time, pay double.

Reminds me of hearing of a somewhat recent Fleetwood Mac tour. They all fuckin hate each other, but were each making 50- 100k a show

Those of you that don't know the history of the song, "I heard it on the X," it's very interesting. We lost a legend today, RIP Dusty from Texas.

Wasn't he the one that wanted to name the band after rolling papers after their early doo-wop cover band years?

NOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
