Does not seem very effective when compared to soapy water or the best technique I have seen which is molten metal.

They die quickly even in moderate high temperatures. Even a warm cup of coffee is to much for them. Molten metal would work well because it can carry a lot of heat. The dry ice failed because it didn't disperse throughout the nest.

he didn't give it enough time to completely sublimate.

Wait until it is dark. Dump a gallon of gas down the hole, cap it with something, done.

I once took a tin can and piece of metallic flexible exhaust duct, was able to adapt down to garden hose from tailpipe. Not too much backpressure on system as no change in idle speed/sound. Gassed them at night (while sleeping) for about 15 mins, problem solved. Sure this would work with lawnmower if some you did not want to drive.

Im guessing there was about 6 gorillion bees in that nest too ? ;)

just pour vinegar and baking soda solution down there. same co2 gas, and cheaper.

although,I would have just used soap and water.

They make dry ice in a small golf ball size. I’ve used it to kill rats that had holes in the ground. Prob works on chipmunks and maybe moles too. Just a pain in the ass to go get it and sometimes it’s not cheap.
