I have a last name that is more common amongst blacks. I've been working remote for 15 years. I got chatty with a few female black colleagues over the years, thinking it was normal. I've had to go into the office for one reason or another and all but two said something along the lines of 'I didn't know you were a white girl' and never spoke to me again except very tersely for work stuff. I've learned if they sound black or have black profile pictures not to befriend them. They will just be mean.
