No, socialism is the "left" of the "left socialist progressives" / "right conservatives" axis in politics.
Libertairanism is the "south" of the "north authoritarianism" / "south liberal" axis.
So, a "Libertarian Socialist" is pretty much just a small group of hippies on a farm doing their thing and sharing their work with each other. The "socialism" doesn't extend beyond the farm and membership is voluntary.
In those situations, it works. It's a lousy national model. But for a few friends on a farm, it's pretty good.
Yeah, the pilgrims tried that. It didn't work out.
The thing is, when everyone gets an even cut regardless of their effort level, many simply won't work. Without government enforced slavery of all, or the constant support of nearby capitalist supply chains, most of them starved to death in the first winter.
Actual socialism is unsustainable.
That being said, the surviving pilgrim elders said "fuck this" and went over to a capitalist system.
Please note this also dispels the monoculture socialism concept, as you can't get more monocultural than a bunch of exiled British religious zealots.
Yeah, the pilgrims tried that. It didn't work out.
The pilgrims didn't really have a choice. They landed at Plymouth rock in the middle of winter. So, it was either, everyone share until spring arrives or ... well, there really wasn't an "or" to consider. Then spring came and they got their shit together. So not really a good example. They never intended to be a "socialist" colony.
The thing is, when everyone gets an even cut regardless of their effort level, many simply won't work.
Yeah, I see you've been to one of these hippie communes then. You get it. You got one dude who spends 30 minutes a day raising the chickens and you have another dude making crappy hats out of hemp, then you have the commune whore who just spreads her legs.
I never said it was a prosperous system. It's just a system that works if you are a dirty hippy. Good for them. Stay on your commune and don't bother us.
Actual socialism is unsustainable.
Oh, it's sustainable. Just don't expect too much from it. Best you can hope for is some chicken and the smelliest cunt you've ever fucked.
The pilgrims did have a choice, they were literal socialists and cut ties with the company that transported them there immediately upon arrival, opting to build their utopian society without support. They were the first chaz. Several of the able bodied men opted to lay around and write poetry instead of helping, expecting there to be plenty. There wasn't. It absolutely does not work.
