I think the news story when he was arrested said he had a drug dealing conviction so he was either on probation or felony conviction that restricted him from possessing a firearm.
Edit: Yeah felon in possession of a firearm, here you go. It’s
Doesn't 2nd amendment guarantee him right to own a gun if he is not under arrest?
Felons can not generally possess firearms. You forfeit your right to self defense if you are a convict. There are exceptions in some states where you can regain your rights depending on the severity of the felony. This is why it is so important that I do not engage in activities that lead to me losing the right to sell defense.
Additionally, as in gyps’s case, you end up back in prison if they find you with a firearm. It is common for felons to claim the firearm belongs to their girlfriend that lives with them. Some states have laws saying there cannot be a firearm in the house or any other projectile weapon such as a crossbow. IANAL
But 2nd says shall not be infringed. As long as you are US citizen, your conviction history shouldn't matter? Or founding fathers being criminals themselves denied ability to themlike own weapons because it could end up in revolt?
The democrats don't want that law to apply to blacks. They also want to allow felons who haven't petitioned for the restoration of voting rights to be able to vote.
