People can be so ignorant of the realities of war. Armies will defend their soldiers and civilians making trouble is common in every conflict in human history. But what do you do as a General of an army. You hear that Town A near one of your outposts is ambushing your soldiers. 99% of the time in human history when this happens. The army comes into the town, rounds up ALL fighting age men, digs a big hole in the ground, sprays them with machine gun fire and covers up the hole in the ground. This is what everyone did in WW2. The germans gave them a chance at life. Why take the time and effort to move them all to a work camp when it would have been so much easier to just dig a hole? But it's war, perhaps the allies bombed the train taking these men to the work camp so they never came home. Perhaps they starved to death like millions of german civilians because the allies destroyed all supply lines. Perhaps these men were moved to Dresden and were then burned alived by Allies in their napalm runs of civilian cities.
