Seems like a good kid. I still cringe every time I hear the phrase "of color" but that poor kid grew up with it so he doesn't know how much bullshit it is.
As for suggesting that you "stay and fight" I'm sure that sounded good in your head when you typed it, but lets think about it for a minute. Who is he going to fight? Every teacher in the school? Should it be this kid's responsibility to "fight" when the teachers who don't agree with it wont?
What, do you imagine, would be the point of him "staying and fighting" while continuing to be propagandized and told he's wicked, evil, racist etc?
The public school system is fundamentally broken. It is not fixable in it's current form. You get your kids away from it. Homeschool, montessori, Waldorf, that's all you've got as options.
Pointing out that a winning fight isn't possible doesn't give me hope for the future either.
We can't win that fight, but we can win the "alternative school for kids because public school is fubar" fight.
If an enemy is strong, you don't attack their center, you go around them, and choose your own battleground.
