People tend to hate those whom they most resemble, kind of like the saying that the reason the devil punishes sinners is that he hates competition.

Ah yes, the old 'I don't have anything against religion. I just dislike organised religion.' I never twigged that when they said 'organised religion' the implication was Catholicism, because it is the most organised and hierarchical religion in the West.
